Default Way to go Edwin!

They say the hardest thing is just deciding what you want! Keep visualizing, thought this might be good as a screen saver for you. http://z.about.com/d/cars/1/7/V/l/chevrolet_captiva.jpg Whats that other saying? " Be careful what you think about, it may just come true! " I'm sure it will for you , peace and happiness to you and your booming buisness!

Smile thanx

Sometimes you don't need meditation to feel good again.

Just a nice message like yours will do just fine, thanks Victoria

I am so glad I joined this forum !

thank you too Pollyanna, you guys are the best motivators !

Yesterday evening I tried it for the first time, and I noticed a very nice side-effect :

I had finished a 35 minute meditation, did the 2 minutes eyes-closed, and started the way Michael explained on CD 2 of the meditation course I think it is,
first I was gratefull for my family, then my friends, then my health, and then I visualised my 2 goals until I had a clear picture of what I wanted.
Then I visualised standing in my new business, with my 2 daughters ( 3 and 5 years old ) sitting on my arms, with their cute little arms wrapped around my neck in a cozy little hug as we like to do so often. Then I turned around in front of the window to see my new car outside, and I could hear my oldest daughter asking me " Is that the car we are going on vacation with ? " And I answered " Yes sweetheart "
The nice side effect is, from the moment I started visualising getting that hug from my daughters, I smiled, and I kept on smiling for about 10 minutes !!!

visualising your dreams is WAY easyer this way, before it didn't work because it was hard to believe this could actually happen to me, but visualising it with that hug.... it feels so good I want to keep on doing it !

I hope I am doing it right it feels that way !

Default What to attract?

Hi, All,

Something interesting has perplexed me a little bit about Manifesting and Attraction, and I wonder if anyone else has considered this.

In the early '80s I met a gal who was everything I ever thought I wanted in a mate and then some. Long story short, we got engaged and were together roughly 5 years, but I was unable to get her to commit to marriage. I remember at the time wishing there was something I could do to get her to commit herself. Only later, after the relationship had ended with a great deal of heartache to endure, did I discover that she was and always had been very promiscuous. In fact she did marry again (she had been married twice previously,) and her third marriage lasted less than 7 months, destroyed because she never gave up her promiscuous behaviors.

Years later I read some of Wayne Dyer's books on manifesting, particularly his "Ah" meditation which he said would help bring whatever you really desired come to pass. At first I thought to myself, "Whoa, if this really does work as Wayne says it does, if only I'd known about it back when this gal and I were engaged!"

And then I thought about it for a moment. What if I had been able to influence her to make a commitment? What would that have led to? The guy that came along after me only made it 7 months before he discovered the promiscuity. If I'd been able to manifest a commitment out of her, that might have been me in a 7 month marriage ending in divorce.

I have since thought about the idea of manifesting and attraction in broader terms and I wonder, am I really smart enough to know what to manifest? Perhaps I am better off leaving some of that sort of thing to a power higher and more intelligent than I am? I think Garth Brooks recorded a song that says, "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers."

Anyone else ever have this concern?

Edwin, your two little sweethearts will probably be your driving force - I am so excited for you and I felt really emotional when I read your post. I know exactly what you mean when you said "it was hard to believe this could actually happen to me" - I used to feel the same until I read some good books and decided to change my way of thinking because my family was worth it. (and I am too) You might want to create a vision board and your little ones could help. Test drive the car and get a photograph of you and your family in it - suitcases in the back - parked outside your new business - ready to set off on a family vacation. I know you can do this. Happy hugging Don,t forget to take your shades with you.
P.S. Once a man's mind has been expanded by a dream - there's no turning back, happiness and joy to you

Hi Ta-tsu-wa,
I am sorry to hear what happened to you. The girl must have had some issue that needed dealing with and maybe that was her coping mechanism. I spent 9 years (5 of them married) to a man who wanted to control me, was unfaithful and became cruel - I think he still has serious unresolved issues. I never regret it though because if it hadn't happened I wouldn't have my two wonderful children who are everything to me. In those days I was unconsciously attracting things with my chatterbox - now that's scary!! When you stated in your post, "I have since thought about the idea of manifesting and attraction in broader terms and I wonder, am I really smart enough to know what to manifest?" I believe you are. I believe meditation and the Universal Law of Attraction have a major thing in common - they both help us to live more consciously. One of the greatest gifts we possess is choice. We can all choose a better way to live. I wish you lots of happiness and joy

Fortunately, that's not how it works
If I understand correctly, the power of attraction is based on POSITIVE energy emitted by yourself.
Thus it can never become a bad thing.
It's not like you have to pay the price for your happyness.

Then it would work like this: someone visualises having 100.000 dollars, and 3 days later gets driven over by a car, never to walk again.
He gets 100.000 for his bad luck.

Again, thankfully it works differently. You get what you ask for, good or bad, it just delivers that.

Secondly, even tho the power of attraction can work through people, you can't steer people with it. That way we would be mindless drones, and we are in fact each and every one of us a unique person that add to the giant mix
There is no way you could "influence" your girlfriend into marriage through attraction.
In fact, consider this: If you hoped for happyness at that time, that was probably what made you NOT marry this girl. It caused you pain that you broke up, and you experiance that as a bad thing, but we all get our share of pain in our life. Buddha noticed the same thing when he grew up, and decided he wanted to rid the world from pain. He didn't try to actually take away the events that cause us pain, that's impossible, he tried to make people see things differently, so that the pain inside people would go away.
The fact that you didn't marry her is simply something to be gratefull for.

"The Secret" is only new in a way that it describes that great force as the Universe, while others would call It God, or Allah or whatever you want to call that higher power. It has always been there, and always will, energy cannot disappear, only change.
If you pray instead of meditate, and visualise what you want, you will also get what you asked for. Meditation is just the medium we use on this forum, so try it !

If you know how, you can use that Force for your benefit, and Michael explains how to do it.
Try to stay positive, and ban negative words like "can't" or "won't" from your vocabulary, even in dayly life !

Default To manifest or not? That is the question.

There was once a man who was so poor he didn't even have enough money to buy a car so that he could find a decent job. He took the little money he had and purchased a lottery ticket and with it won a great deal of money. His friends came to him and said, "My, what great fortune you had purchasing that lottery ticket!"

"Perhaps so," the man replied.

When the government learned of his winnings they came and took all of what he won to pay back taxes the man had owed from many years past. His friends all came to him and said, "What bad luck that was, losing all that money to the government!"

"Perhaps so," replied the man.

A local charity heard of the man's hard luck and took up a collection raising enough money to purchase a car for the man so that he could find and commute to a good job. His friends came to him and exclaimed, "What a great blessing it is to have been given this beautiful automobile!"

"Perhaps so," was all the man said.

A few days later while out driving his new car the man was hit by a drunk driver. His new car was demolished and the man was seriously injured and had to stay several weeks recovering in a hospital. His friends all came to visit, saying to him, "This is a terrible, terrible thing that has happened to you!"

"Perhaps so," he responded.

A few days after entering the hospital there arose a great storm. During the night the hillside on which the man's house was built was washed away in a mudslide destroying and burying the house and everything in it. His friends came to see him once again. "Aren't you lucky you were here in the hospital and not asleep at home as you would normally have been!"

You can probably guess how the man responded. He was wise enough to understand that in the world of manifest phenomena, things come and things go. Nothing...absolutely nothing is permanent. Even stars with lives of billions of years will arise, shine for a time, then disappear. All manifest things are temporary in nature. Knowing that fact allowed this man to see all things, both the pleasant and the not so pleasant as simply temporary conditions, and nothing to get too terribly attached to.

In a way this almost sounds like such a person would have no enjoyment in life, but on the contrary, recognizing the impermanence of all things sets one free to enjoy what is without the nagging fear of loss because they know in advance that all things are just temporary arrangements, both good and bad.

So Ta-Tsu-Wa, regarding your story of "the woman who almost was" so to speak, you really need to see things from that standpoint of impermanence of forms. Like that wise man you can look at that relationship and say, "My, but that didn't turn out well... Perhaps so." Or you could say, "That was really a great few years of my life...Perhaps so." Either way you would be right.

The same is true of anything you manifest. Some things may turn out exactly as you envisioned them, and some things may turn out very differently. Does that mean they were either "good" or "bad"?

Perhaps so.

~Raven~

That is a very good story Raven, and quite hilaric I might add !

It's true, what if.. is really not of importance. What is important is what DID happen. Most of what we call "the past" is based on our imperfect memory, and what we call "the future" has yet to come.
It's impossible for us to see "the big picture" like Raven tried to show us with his amusing story.

All that is important, is the constant and ever moving "now" in which we live. All that has happened is stored in our brain, and both guards us from making the same mistake twice, but also imprisons us.

This also makes the attraction law a bit more clear to me ! I sometimes wonder if it is possible, all that I want to attract...
but my disbelief is based on the past, and if I break free from expectations based on the past, I realise that I cannot imprison the future: It is yet to happen and is free from expectations !

Who knows what can happen in the future, it is only important when it reaches "now" and straight after that it is all in the past.
Sorry for thinking out loud, but I now understand why it doesn't matter wether you want a new pen or a new car, it is all in the future and there are no limits to what you attract other than that of your own mind !
