You can, but you may find you have a greater tendency to fall asleep. When we lay down, especially at the end of our day, our body naturally treats this as an indication to rest and thus sleep. You may actually find it a greater task to maintain meditation/lifeflow laying down than if you were to sit. If you can find a comfortable chair or seat to sit on that supports your back (if you need that support) then that is often the best for most people. The problem then comes if your chair is an ultra comfy one, that also supports the head etc. as this too can lead to you relaxing to the point of wanting to sleep. By all means, give it a go lying down, but I think you would benefit more doing it in a sitting position if possible.

If I do not meditate what good will it do to me?

Lifeflow will still be of benefit and help to entrain the brain, giving it balance between the left and righ hemispheres, but the effects may not be as great as when you use it during meditation. With meditation, we practice stilling the mind thus, in principle, allowing brain entrainment to have greater effect.

Why shouldn't I take alcohol for at least 24 hours? If it is 12 hours after drinking hard drinks what will happen? Is a couple of cans of beer considered to be taking alcohol?
|
This is always a tricky one. The effects of alcohol can last for a long time, and make it more difficult to maintain the initial focus on the mantra and effect how thoughts arise and how easy it is to let go of those thoughts. Of course it can depend on how much you drink, and there is the school of thought that say that meditation also works on the energetic body (e.g. the meridian energy system), and for that to be most effective it should be well hydrated, by drinking plenty of water, and alcohol, coffee or some other substances actually act to dehydrate the body.
Saying that, most people do enjoy a drink or two, especially when socialising etc. I tend to ensure, if I'm going to have a drink, I do this after I have meditated. So, my meditation timeslots for the day are first thing in the morning when I wake up, and more often than not, when I return from work, before eating supper. Then with my supper or in the evening, I can drink a can of beer and know that the effects will be mostly gone by the time the morning comes around again.
I think, personally, it's a case of ensuring you have the correct balance for what you are choosing to do, and not doing things to excess.
Hugs
