Default As a Man Thinketh in his heart so is he

As a Man Thinketh - Think and Grow Rich - The Magic of Thinking Big - The Secret - all have one thing in common. They all reveal the same timeless success principles.

The success principles never change - the only thing that changes are the messengers and as we relate to different people, so we will relate to different messengers.

Napoleon Hill said "We become what we think about."

James Allen stated "As a man thinketh in his heart - so is he."

Over time I realized that I had been going around with random thoughts (and tragic lyrics to songs playing over and over again) in my mind and when I look back I can see why my life was pretty desparate. I had thought this was normal though - I actually thought it was about putting on a brave face and suffering quietly inside ( I think I probably felt proud of myself and thought I was brave, a bit like a martyr )

And that's O.K. because that was who I believed I was - that was the only way I knew how to survive - that was my map of reality.

Thank goodness I read the books above I realized that if I wanted to change some things in my life, I had to change.

I began to work on me. I began to monitor what I read and thought. I had no idea of "Maps of reality", ego or belief systems at that time - this came much later through LifeFlow meditation and Michael Mackenzie.

When I implemented these together, everything semed to make complete sense for me - everything just jelled together and the rest is history.

Habitual thoughts become feelings, which turn into habits and habits create results which in turn become beliefs.

I wish you an abundance of good thoughts, peace and joy because

it's very true what James Allen stated - as a man thinketh in his heart so is he

It is so very hard to understand in the beginning.
We have so much baggage to carry.
We start out with an empty suitcase and as we go through life we have certain experiences and we stuff a part of each experience in our suitcase. This is how we interpret our rode map of reality; with the contents of our suitcase. We look at a situation and wonder how to react. If we don't know how to react we look in our suitcase and find something familiar to use or hide under.
Now we feel safe.

Changing our road map of reality involves opening that suitcase, taking these articles (ideas and experiences) and looking at them with new eyes; seeing in them that which makes each one a crutch or contact to the past thinking that kept us where we were/are.
We then throw away the ones that are destructive, negative or no longer useful. This leaves us vulnerable to what lies before us but at the same time we are lighter because we have left some baggage behind.
We look at old ideas differently and more importantly we look at the future with new eyes.
We learn to accept the blessings which lay before us as well as give blessings to others. . . We can do that now . . . We can be a blessing to each person we meet because we are open to a new force. This force has always been there we merely didn't think we needed it, in many cases, didn't think we deserved it.

Thank You Pollyanna for being patient with all of us here and hanging out and continually being the call to action that so many of us need to see the light. Your patience is admirable. I will be forever grateful for all you've done here on the forum. Being a voice for change can be a lonely place.

Blessings to all,
gus

Dear Gus,

I was in awe and my spirit soared when I read the journey that you have described so clearly - thankyou

And then I read the last paragraph which made the hairs stand up on the back of my neck and tears of gratitude spring to my eyes. I deeply appreciate your insight and understanding.

Because of you and others, some old, some new and some who have yet to discover this wonderful place, many people will discover an abundance of peace and joy along their journey of self discovery.

Have a wonderful day Gus - you've certainly made mine very special

Thankyou Edwin - I've had time to recover now so out of the following comment I made to Gus:-

"Because of you and others, some old, some new and some who have yet to discover this wonderful place, many people will discover an abundance of peace and joy along their journey of self discovery."

I want to make sure that you know that you fall into the "some old" category hehehe I would hate to miss out anyone because there are so many wonderful and helpful people here in the community.

You have been here from the beginning though. You are so giving of your time, wisdom and encouragement and you are very much appreciated by so many including me. Together we can all make a difference, peace and happiness to you and yours

I agree with ALL of the above. You three are so generous with your abundance of wisdom, taking the time to answer questions, encouraging those that need it, informing others where to find what they need and on and on.

And Gus, what a lovely metaphor, describing our emotional baggage so eloquently. I'd been wondering what happened to you since you haven't posted for a while. I'm glad you're still with us, sharing your journey.

Post on!

Bhavya

Ever since the beginning of this forum, I always enjoyed every minute reading experiences from others, learning from them, and in time return the favor to others in need of assistance.

Not one minute wasted here

I was thinking about this the other day, how this forum to me is like a place to practice the person I want to be. In real life I am not perfect, not by far, but inhere I can show the best of me, and hopefully others inhere will benefit from it

I agree with you totally Edwin - what you have just said shows clearly in the consistent help you give here.

None of us are perfect and it's exciting to be growing and becoming the best we aspire to be.

I think LifeFlow meditation is the fertilizer and the community is the fertile ground - here's to us all coming up smelling like roses

As Og Mandino says "Happiness is a perfume you cannot pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself."

Hope your Easter week-end is full of love and happiness

Pollyanna,
Your title caught my eye and your message is everything that I wanted to say also about the studies I've done on "Happiness". Have you read A Guide To Developing Life's Most Important Skill: Happiness by Matthieu Ricard? It truely teaches how to look within and discover how to re-pack our suitcase (Gus). I'm new to this and had difficulty controlling my thoughts in meditation and Lifeflow helps. I realize that mind-training is the key to change for all of us. Happiness & Peace to all, Terry.
