Default Group meditation with a twist !

The last months we have organised a "World Peace Meditation" every last sunday of the month.

A number of people, me included, have experienced wonderfull meditations because of this, and hopefully we will have influenced the collective conciousness of the world in a positive way

Keith said in the last thread:
Since I am "a spiritual being having a human experience," I often find myself falling "asleep," being unconscious, and identifying "me" as this "human experience." As such, I find that the "gentle & kind" nudges and suggestions like I receive on this forum assist me in "staying awake," in being conscious.
and this triggered an idea with me.

The human race is made out different levels of conciousness. Every person has an ego, but is also a part of the collective awareness, or so we are told by people who experience enlightenment on a daily basis.

Eckhart Tolle sais that we have to change ourselves as well as the society we live in, in order for the human race to survive.
According to different calenders and astrology's a change will be set for the entire human race in december 2012 (Mayan calender) where something will happen that will change human conciousness, "forcing" us to go to a next level of conciousness.

I have no idea what to think of these "facts" but it is my belief that enlightenment is that new conciousness they are talking about, and I see no harm in reaching it before 2012

It is common knowledge that Zen meditation "works" better when performed in a group, and Eckhart Tolle sais that " As a log just starting to burn will burn brighter in the presence of a large fire, so you can reach enlightenment faster in the presence of an enlightened teacher ".

So, I want the next peace meditation, the last one of this year, to be a bit special.
I would love to see all of us, instead of just focusing on world peace for meditation, focus on raising our collective conciousness.
I think it would be best to just think about the other forummembers, and how their awareness is growing at the same time as is yours, that distance and time are not important anymore, that we can make a "field of awareness" between ourselves.

That way we will have a group of aware people all over the world who will "make the logs in their presence burn brighter" simply by being around them !

This will indirectly bring world peace anyway

What do you guys think, will we be able to raise our levels of awareness as a next step towards enlightenment as a group ?

Default Excellent Idea

Hi Edwin,
I think you're on to something here. I like your idea and am very supportive of it. If there is anything I can do to assist--other than committing to dedicate my last Sunday of December 2008 meditation to this idea--please let me know. I notice and admire your work in behalf of this forum. Take care, my friend. --Keith

Hiya, I wish I could be more succinct in my responses, I post something on here and I go 'agh' another interminably long explanation! sorry guys, I just go into some space in my head when we talk about meditation and I find it difficult to be logical, you may have guessed I am female! I have found this site so wonderful, some of the posts are so heart-felt that I couldn't possible respond in a way that I thought explained how I really felt, thank goodness, everyone breathes a sigh of relief. But really, thanks guys, you are making the journey for me so wonderful and you are keeping me sane, in a world full of 'X-factor' in England at the moment, and excruciating political nonsense it is good to come here and read some real life experiences, people stretching themselves to the limit, positive influences like Pollyanna, I could list a whole load of you, but you know who you are, the frequent contributors, I am thinking of you now, but I don't want to do a list, for fear that I leave people out and then I wouldn't be able to rest because I had upset people. I feel I know some of you so well, and then, also I am surprised when people say, yeah, I have been there, in response to someone else. We are all in this together, and it feels good. Yes, I am up for a collective meditation thinking of all the people in this group, good one Edwin! x

It would be good to do this next month too, for the New Year, some will not be able to commit to this because of being with family perhaps, away from home, unsure of what will be happening on that day, but would like to participate, don't worry, we will be thinking of you all and sending you good vibes, but what do you say, Edwin, do the same for January? We are so lucky to all be together! I am one of those away for Christmas, so not in tune on computer, but will be in tune in my head, most definitely.

Default Count me in

I love this idea! I'm new to Project Meditation, but not to meditation, and I'm wondering: Do we all do this at the same time (which, yeah, I realize would have some of us dragging our rumps out of bed at 3 in the morning to join the group meditation) or just do it during our regular meditation time?

Hi there Purplevibe, now I am truly saying "agh" because I pressed edit on your post instead of quote!!! Sorry I was trying to copy one sentence

Anyway I just wanted to say something in answer to your following comment:- "I post something on here and I go 'agh' another interminably long explanation!"

I want you to know that I and many others take out the g and think "ahhh, another wonderful and special person within the community, reaching out to help and inspire others.

Thankyou

Wherever you spend Christmas may your heart be filled with love and happiness
