Hi Edwin,
The first time I had this group "peace meditation" experience back in September, it was such a powerful one for me. Somehow, the little "idea" you introduced on this forum really caught fire and spread. If I remember correctly, there were over 1260 Project Meditation meditators all over the world who were all meditating for world peace at three different times during the day.
I think a number of us needed to have this experience so we could see how easy things can be.
Now, I sense we are working at a different level--a level of "quiet commitment," a level of being grateful for the support of others AND also realizing that we are each committed to the "joyful work" of consistently experiencing "peace within" through meditation REGARDLESS of what anyone does or doesn't do.
Since I am
"a spiritual being having a human experience," I often find myself falling "asleep," being unconscious, and identifying "me" as this "human experience." As such, I find that the "gentle & kind" nudges and suggestions like I receive on this forum assist me in "staying awake," in being conscious.
So, as I meditated for world peace this last Sunday, it was helpful to me to picture the "few" people who signed up on this thread and committed to do this. It's not that these "few" people are better than those who didn't commit to do this. Heaven knows, we each have a number of "priorities" that are calling for our attention all the time. Rather, I just felt really grateful that a number of my "good friends" I've met through this forum decided that for a few moments we'd all meet together, experience peace together, and let this energy of peace radiate out from us to the world.
Anyway, that's what I felt as I meditated for world peace this past Sunday. I commit that for the last Sunday of each month my meditation period will be dedicated to increasing peace in the world. Knowing that others of you who I deem as friends will be doing the same adds strength and resolve to this commitment. Take care. --Keith
