Thank you, my friend
Edwin,
I re-read your post again this morning, AND once again, my heart was touched by your words. Thank you for "trusting" this forum with such a personal story. I could picture you riding your bike home--I tell you there is something really powerful about releasing and "letting go" while doing common repetitive activities--and crying and laughing all at the same time.
Rather than just continuing to worry about your debt, you actually were inspired to take action and write to your suppliers. Excellent job!
This morning when I got to work, I noticed I had received "Focusing Tip #182" from Ann Weiser Cornell in my email. Focusing is a process similar to "The Sedona Method." (Here is a link: The Focusing Institute )
Worry is not an action
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When I spend time with worried parts of mine, I discover that they feel they are helping me. They are watching out, they say, for bad things that might happen. They feel they are helping me prepare.
I can acknowledge that that is what they think they are doing... but it doesn't turn out to be true.
Here's a story. I live in earthquake country. I think the latest estimate is that a devastating earthquake is 50% likely over the next 30 years. It could happen any day. So I was worried. (A legitimate worry!)
There are many things one can do to prepare for an earthquake, from stocking up on supplies to retrofitting the foundation of one's house. Here's what I was doing: nothing. Just worrying. And when I listened to the part of me that was worried, I discovered that it felt it was helping me prepare for the earthquake. I thanked it for the help... and let it know I heard it... but as I looked around from Presence I had to say that the truth was otherwise. Being worried was not a helpful state.
So I found instead my calm clear state, Self-in-Presence, where I'm not worried. And once I was there, I found myself calmly taking the actions that would prepare for the earthquake. For the first time, not worried, I called up the retrofitters, and stocked up on the supplies.
I'm all set now. And still calm.
At the last of your post you wrote: "I am wondering tho, am I doing it correctly ? it feels good, so I must be doing something right, but maybe I can add to it or make it more effective still ?
Such a good question, and to tell you the truth, "I don't know." Probably there just isn't any one "correct" way. Your question reminds me of the following excerpt:
Guilt and fear are the only enemies of man. There is no such thing as “wrong.” There is only that which does not serve you; does not speak the truth about Who You Are, and Who You Choose to Be.
Guilt is the feeling that keeps you stuck in who you are not. . . Awareness is what you seek. But awareness is not guilt, and love is not fear.
Fear and guilt, I say again are your only enemies. Love and awareness are your true friends. Yet do not confuse the one with the other, for one will kill you, while the other gives you life. ( Conversations with God (book 3), p. 5)
I think that in whatever activities we are engaged in the following excerpt gives some pretty sound advice:
Fortunately we have one simple and reliable test of our position to which at any time we can refer ourselves. That is our state of mind. By and large, leaving aside the small mosquito-annoyances, if we are not having a peaceful, carefree, normal time on our way, count on it, we are headed for the swamp. Nervousness and depression and depletion, or exaltation and elation and extravagance: these should alike be recognized as danger signals. First aid is to take off the pressure. ( Across the Unknown by Stewart Edward White) (Here is a link to this book: http://gutenberg.net.au/ebooks05/0500091.txt)
Anyway, these are just some thoughts your post here brought to mind. I notice the work you're doing, and I'm inspired by it. I wish you joy and peace this day. --Keith
I don't think I will ever encounter another man who has done such immense research than you.
Keith, you are the best, there is always a link or an answer or a quote that helps me go forward in your posts.
Been re-reading your last post, and the story about worries posing as if they are helping you is golden !
The first time I ever made real progress was when I got off my behind and started to make a change for myself, as if I got a "reward" for my actions, taking a step that was "right" for me.
Darren was nice enough to give me the E-Book for free.
After having read it, and been practicing, the Realization system is starting to work for me.
I dare say that you haven't tried the LoA if you haven't tried his book.
Go to his site and read about it !
Thanks guys! I always appreciate your kind words...although we are at risk of having hijacked this thread!...and so I reach out and ask others to share their views of Eckhart Tolle's 'A New Earth' as I am quite interested to hear more on everyone's experience with his material.
Because there are so many hills on the lanes where I live it was too hard for me to begin with (after 45 years without a bicycle  ) and so my daughters really enjoy it.
A couple of months ago my husband and son bought me an electrically assisted bike (just because I'm worth it  ) and the times I have enjoyed on it are absolutely amazing.
When we're in the middle of a busy days work my son or daughter will skype me with "fancy a bike ride mum?" and off we go for a 30 minute break. I take my grandchildren often and we have a ball.
I always carry bottled water in the basket for everyone and apples or carrots for the donkeys and horses we find on our travels. We've really had to work so hard for almost 2 years since we moved here but now it's our time to reap what we have sown.
My eldest daughter is 33 and she has always wanted to go to disneyland, as have my other children (I'm sure most children do). Anyway my youngest is 21 in February 2009 and she told me 3 or 4 weeks ago her wish is for all 9 of us to go to disneyland in Paris for 3 nights and 4 days
We didn't have the money at the time and still haven't yet but have all agreed not to buy any presents for each other (except the grandchildren of course) Instead we will have slips of paper off Father Christmas for going to Disneyland
Whether we can make this money in time for February or have to wait until October next year, all the family will be thrilled either way. We've struggled and worked so hard for decades but I know a different way now and I have a real sneaky feeling we'll do it for her 21st birthday
Most importantly, we will not go into debt or worry or stress about it, we'll simply continue to create it. Happy creative processing to you all
And you know something else? I decided the other day that I want a thousand days of fun for us all to cycle, play tennis, swim, go for walks and just have fun with family and friends - not all at once of course
|
Well here's the update, we're booked and going for her 21st birthday in a few days time  and we've booked a surprize tea party with the characters!!! We're telling her tonight at dinner
Here's a little tip that's working really well for us:-
My daughters are looking for properties close by (probably be in a position to go ahead in about 10 to 18 months. We've found one for each of them, next door to each other (they both love this idea)
The owners are not there at the moment so we keep cycling by and imagining living there (they are now calling them their homes - even the children are excited  They love the gardens and can see themselves enjoying wonderful times in them. My youngest daughter has even got her wedding planned in her garden  walking down the rose petalled aisle barefooted in a floating pretty dress and flowers in her hair with just about 30 to 40 special friends and family. I can see it so clearly.
As Dennis Waitley says - “If you’ve been there in the mind you’ll go there in the body.'
Everything you do begins in your mind, which makes it vitally important that you see your life as you want it to be!
Create the mental image first thing in the morning before you start your daily routine and / or last thing at night just before going to sleep. This will allow your mind the time to work on it while you sleep.
Be consistant in making time to visualize. Give yourself little breaks - meditate, go outside and enjoy nature, do whatever it takes for you to see your life the way you want it to be. Sometimes we can get so caught up in 'doing' we take no time to 'pause, refresh and sharpen our axe.' When we're stressed, it’s difficult to think creatively.
Remember, breaks inspire, kindle and stimulate miracles.
Most of us only have a flicker of hope - keep fanning the flicker until it becomes a burning flame of desire. When you spend time every day seeing your life the way you want it to be, miracles begin to happen.
The Universe moves to help those who know what they want, can see it in their mind's eye and are willing to be bold and take action to get it!
Find what you want and more importantly, WHY you want it and I wish you an abundance of happiness and joy
