Default But does it really work?

Can the sound vibrations really balance the brain? I haven't bought the system yet, but have been listening to the free sample.

Consider how fast beats of dance music get people up and raving, or how chillout music makes you feel relaxed, or disco music takes you back to the 70's, or the humming of machinery or a computer server room can get annoying etc. Of course different sounds effect the brainwaves and that's why specific sounds coupled with research into the brainwave frequencies can elicit different reactions. On top of that, with the way the neurons in the brain re-wire themselves to learn things and store memories, frequently listening to certain frequencies causing certain brainwaves will become engrained and learnt, hence why brainwave entrainment actually works.

Default water sounds

I know the power of music and sound, but I find the "water" sounds in the sample to be rather annoying after awhile. I'm wondering how prevalent those sounds are in the actual program, and whether anyone else has been bothered by them.

When beginning meditation all sounds are annoying. If you concentrate on your mantra/breath or another method you will become aware that sound is sound. It arrives and goes, just like thoughts.

One of the paradoxes of meditation is the while you want to meditate to become calmer and more relaxed the annoying triggers that get to you during the day, will initially (and sometimes when you’re very experienced too) get you during meditation, the trick is allowing to be what is.

The water sounds are a mask to hide the beats, relax in to the sounds of the water and allow it to flow through you. Soon the water becomes the background and you will not notice it. Fight it and you'll be swimming up river...

Have the volume low to begin with.

The water and insect noises mask the sounds of the actual entrainment sounds.

Then your focus is on the sounds of the water and not your meditation mantra? Use that as a trigger to remind yourself to let your mantra become your focus, and let the annoyance go.

This an old post which I just happened to stumble upon. But I must say that I love the water sounds, and often move into and out of them during meditation. I forget them for long stretches, but when my attention returns to them, it is always as a very welcome "friend".

Also, as a stroke victim getting over a dizziness problem, I sometimes visualize the water as washing over, into, through my brain...and healing it. Must say that it seems very effective.
