Hi. I think I can relate to what you are saying as I am also 21 and have ADD. I have also been using Lifeflow for 3 months. I used to take meds but got off of them because I didn't like the idea of taking amphetamines every day. I believe that Lifeflow benefits me because I feel myself going into the alpha state when I use it. I don't think that I am missing out on any benefits because I can't concentrate. I just get into my meditation position, start counting my breaths from one to ten and then kind of slip off at around 7-8 minutes. I don't try to "concentrate" on just my breaths or the number I'm on, I just let the thoughts float on by. When I first started Lifeflow, I used a mantra and was constantly disappointed because, just like you, I couldn't hold the concentration for more than a minute. Then I tried the breath counting. It only took me a few times of using that method to realize how easy it is to have a relaxing meditation. I'm not an expert, but I really think that getting the benefits from this program is really that simple. There are several posts on this site that talk about concentrating and what to do with your thoughts while meditating. There are also more discussions on how much effort one needs to put into meditation. You can find all kinds of solutions and answers on this forum, and listening to the discover mediation tracks can really help too. I hope this helps in some way. I wish you the best of luck and hope that you find a way to meditate that works for you.
