I was prescribed water pills for 3 months and it caused a rash, I decided to stop the medication and heal myself with a daily dose of 40 mins LF, Yoga and Pranayama (breathing exercises) since October 2009. Of course, combining meditation with cutting out fat (which will reduce your salt intake drastically) and (likely) eliminating high fructose corn sugar will go a long way to getting your BP under control. Exercise also helps a lot. I was in a hypertension study in the '80s at a local medical school where they concluded that weight reduction alone lowered BP in 70% of the population.
